Up for sale are Custom Linksys WIRELESS "N" Ultra Range WRT160N units that have had the Linksys firmware removed, and then replaced with custom professional grade firmware. This firmware adds a multitude of extra and powerful features not found on consumer grade equipment. This unit has also been loaded with custom configurations, which, as configured, turns the unit into a powerful universal range expander wireless repeater.

Do not confuse these WRT160N units with the cheaper WRT54G2 or WRT54GS2 units being sold as repeaters... These units are wireless "N", have 32mb ram and a snappy 300 Mhz cpu!

This would be a device that you can place anywhere and it will automatically search for the strongest open wireless signal, verify Internet connectivity, and then repeat that signal wirelessly onto another network thereby dramatically increasing wireless coverage.  It will then periodically scan to be sure it is connected to the strongest open signal.  It does not need to be connected to a LAN cable… Simply plug it in within range of any open wireless signal.  

These units also have the MIMO (multiple-input and multiple-output) feature.  The MIMO technology provides up to 12 times faster wireless network throughput, reduces dead spots, and increases wireless range by up to 4 times when compared to Wireless G units.  These units are compatable with Draft 802.11n, 802.11g and 802.11b, so they will work with your older wireless "G" and wireless "B" equipment.  These units have 32MB memory and a snappy 300MHz CPU!

I set these up with 100 Mw power output, which is about 3 times the power of standard routers or wireless cards, so the range is fantastic. (I use one of these myself.  It connects to signals that my laptop cannot even detect!)  Once it is plugged in, all you have to do is have your laptop (or wireless equipped desktop) look for a wireless signal called "repeater".   (You can also connect up to 4 computers via ethernet cable to the ethernet ports on the rear of the unit for computers that do not have a wireless card.)

In case you want to repeat a secure signal that requires a password, you would log into the device thru your web browser and make the necessary changes.  I also include written instructions on how to repeat a secure wireless network, and instructions on how to secure your repeated signal with a password of your choice.  These units support WEP, WPA and WPA2 security.
